Betting update: UFC 126 lost in SB XLV prop, Rua an underdog at UFC 128

It turns out Super Bowl XLV proposition betting against UFC 126 was all about the feet. The Venetian/Lagasse's Stadium posted a bet that pitted Anderson Silva/Vitor Belfort total rounds completed (+0.5) vs. the Packers-Steelers total field goals.

Silva made it an easy play for bettors who chose the football side. The champ ended the fight in just 3:25, posting zero complete rounds. Green Bay and Pittsburgh didn't really fire up a big number, two field goals made, but it was good enough to win the bet.

Before the main event, the big news at UFC 126 was Jon Jones' being offered and accepting a title shot in less than six weeks against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.

Believe it or not, off-shore books like BoDog have installed Jones as a pretty big favorite at minus-155. That's right, the champ who took out Lyoto Machida is fetching plus-125. Las Vegas books are expected to install Jones as a smaller favorite at minus-130.

Remember the odds aren't indicative of which fighter the sportsbooks are picking. They're set to bring in 50-50 money. Jones as a good-sized favorite is truly of reflection of the books judging public perception. The American has grown up in front of UFC pay-per-view and Spike audiences. Much of Rua's reputation was built from 2003-2007 in PRIDE.
