Sonnen, Belfort lining up to take on Michael Bisping

After Michael Bisping's outburst following his TKO win over Jorge Rivera at UFC 127, the UFC appears ready to dole out punishment to the British fighter. That doesn't include the punishment that other middleweights want to give Bisping.

Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort have so kindly offered to discipline Bisping.

Sonnen, who is currently suspended by the UFC for pleading guilty to mortgage fraud, reportedly emailed UFC matchmaker Joe Silva to ask for a bout with Bisping.

If you get a chance to talk with him, please mention to your idiot-in-residence Michael Spitsbing it’ll be a little tougher to knee ME in the head when I’m charging at him like a runaway train and mincing him through the fence like a boiled potato, should we ever have the pleasure of each other’s company for a few (VERY few) moments in the Octagon.

Sonnen's last bout was a loss in a title match with Anderson Silva. He doesn't yet have a date set for his return from the suspension.

Belfort's last bout was also a loss to Silva. His came by a front kick in the main event of UFC 126, and Belfort used his Twitter account to say that he'd like to fight the Brit sometime in May.

Though Belfort's overwhelming power would be an interesting challenge for Bisping, I hope that Sonnen gets his wish. Rivera got under Bisping's skin with run-of-the-mill trash talk. Sonnen engages in psychological war with his opponents. The months leading up the fight could be a fun ride.
